Why is it important to restore the Atlantic Forest?

One of the most biodiverse biomes in the world, the Atlantic Forest is also the most threatened in Brazil, with only 24% of the original forest remaining in fragmented pieces, and just 12.4% consisting of mature, well-preserved forests.

Deforestation of this biome directly impacts issues such as water supply and climate regulation for the majority of the Brazilian population.

Forests of the Future

A program connecting environmental agencies, companies, and landowners

Created in 2004, the "Florestas do Futuro" (Forests of the Future) project mobilizes funds on one side and on the other identifies rural properties in need of restoration — especially legally protected areas, aimed at preserving water resources, landscapes, biodiversity, and soil conservation.
