Center for Forest Experiments

The Center is a reference for the restoration and conservation of forest resources and is active in the following areas: 1 Forest Restoration and Natural Resources Conservation; 2 Research and Experimentation; 3 Training and Education; 4 Environmental Education and Mobilization.

Located in Itu (interior of São Paulo state), in an old coffee farm lent to the NGO by Brasil Kirin, the Center houses a nursery capable of producing 750 thousand seedlings a year. The seedlings are used in projects in the region, as well as on the farm.

In all, the Center has produced seedlings of 226 native species in a period of six years.

The Center is also where two of the Foundation’s forest restoration programs are coordinated, Click-a-tree and Forests of  the Future, which together donated or sponsored over 30 million seedlings for the restoration of the Atlantic Forest.

In the area of ​​environmental education, the “Learning with the Atlantic Forest“  project, sponsored by Schincariol and supported by Bradesco Capitalização, has welcomed more than 6,593 primary school students, 265 technical and higher education students, as well 1,601 visitors to various events.

Overall, the Center has been visited by more than 25,000 people since its inauguration in 2007.
